Siri Commits Suicide

Siri will detect whether your iPhone is stolen, or you are drunk passcoding at the bar...hopefully Siri can tell the difference if you only get a few tries!

iOS 5.1 Jailbreak Decision

After over 130,000 votes and with only 2 days left on pod2g's blog poll, it appears that the jailbreak community wants to use available exploits for an iOS 5.1 jailbreak. Given the option to hold off until WWDC 2012 and the probable release of beta version of iOS 6, the community wants to continue developing the latest iOS jailbreak solutions.

Personally, there isn't much improvement from the currently untethered iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak as compared to an iOS 5.1 jailbreak. I would rather wait for an iOS 6 jailbreak instead of burning the exploits in iOS for a minor update by Apple. The biggest advantage I see is gaining support for the recently launched 3rd generation iPad.

Cydia iPad Tweak: Quasar

Quasar is a new Cydia tweak that allows window based multitasking on your iPad, giving you the look and feel of app widgets on your iPad. This app is a little pricey at $9.99 through the BigBoss repo and still has a few bugs to get ironed out. Quasar seems to be most useful on a retina iPad, although a iPad 3 jailbreak has not been made available to the jailbreak community yet.

Check out Jeff's video of Quasar on iDownloadBlog

Quasar is available for $9.99 on your iPad on Cydia. This tweak seems to be one of the better paid Cydia tweaks...Is it worth it?

Dreamboard App Scam

The "gamesoft group" has release a wallpaper app designed to mislead you that you can customize your springboard. This app is called Dreamboard (popular Cydia app) doesn't provide widgets, themes, or apps...but instead provides screenshots of these Cydia tweaks and themes.  Here is a real Dreamboard theme for the Kindle Fire, although Amazon complained about our video tutorial...

This App Store app runs $2.99 and should be AVOIDED!

Here is the fictious app store description for the Dreamboard iPad App:

Take control over SpringBoard! Dreamboard lets you place anything from widgets to apps where ever you want. Theming is no longer limited to just icons, or having to resort to complicated setup themes involving Iconoclasm, SpringJumps, etc.

Dreamboard makes it easy to switch between any theme in just a few seconds. Simply launch, choose and apply! And, Dreamboard eliminates the long wait of having to restart Springboard everytime you make a change. No more resprings! Dreamboard includes a complementary copy of Endroid (HTC theme).

Compatible with iPad although not all themes compatible. Not all themes recommended with older generation devices.

iOS 6 Jailbreak

After just over 24 hours of voting, the poll on the blog of @pod2g, it appears that people would much rather have an iOS 5.1 jailbreak instead of getting a leg up on an iOS 6 jailbreak. Here is the results so far from pod2g's blog:

If you haven't already, drop a vote if you want the iOS 6 jailbreak instead of something sooner. The iOS 6 jailbreak exploits will likely be available once a beta version of the new iOS is made available at WWDC 2012.

The Brydge launched today and is the ultimate iPad keyboard (and speaker) accessory for your iPad. The Brydge ships in October, just in time for Christmas for backers on Kickstarter.

The Brydge has already received over $25,000 of the $90,000 it is looking to get on Kickstarter after the first couple hours. This is basically a 9.7" Macbook conversion kit...Now we need a iOS to OS X Lion emulator.

Also, check out the Pebble Watch Project for iPhone connectivity.

Release Jailbreak Or Wait For iOS 6? [Updated]

This morning, pod2g added a poll to his blog giving people the right to vote whether an iOS 5.1 jailbreak is released. So far it is leaning toward providing a jailbreak instead of sitting on the exploit. It is about 60/40 minus the few beer chuggers!

So head over to pod2g's blog and make your voice heard, over 60,000 responses!

WWDC 2012 Sold Out

Well in under 2 hours, WWDC 2012 is now sold out. I would bet that many people on the West Coast were not awake at 6am when Apple announced WWDC 2012. Hopefully the iOS developers in California weren't up too late last night working through code.

I resisted the urge for a couple hours this morning... now I regret it!

Apple Stock Surges

After beating expectations this afternoon in the Apple 2Q2012 earnings release, stock has surged over 7% in after hours trading. This 40 point gain will surely be nice for people that just bought AAPL hoping for a nice earnings report.

Now over $600 per share again after the past couple weeks of being sold off. To infinity and beyond?

Apple 2Q2012 Results

Apple just announced their 2Q 2012 financial results this afternoon for the quarter ending March 31, 2012. They announced revenue of $39.2 billion with a net quarterly profit of $11.6 billion, or $12.30 per diluted share. Apple beat their guidance of $32.5 billion by nearly 20% and the street estimated just under $37 billion in revenue for this quarter.

Sales of the iPad were reported at 11.8 million units, with 35.1 million iPhones being shipped as well.

From the Apple press release

"We’re thrilled with sales of over 35 million iPhones and almost 12 million iPads in the March quarter,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “The new iPad is off to a great start, and across the year you’re going to see a lot more of the kind of innovation that only Apple can deliver.”

“Our record March quarter results drove $14 billion in cash flow from operations,” said Peter Oppenheimer, Apple’s CFO. “Looking ahead to the third fiscal quarter, we expect revenue of about $34 billion and diluted earnings per share of about $8.68."

The iPhone is still holding strong with the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS availability.

iPad Controlled Weapon

With over 1,000,000 views since yesterday, the iPad controlled quad drone helicopter seems awesome. Dubbed Sharleen, the modified quadrocopter is equipped with 100 rounds and is built to kill and thrill.

Personally, I'd be afraid of user error or the iPad becoming aware and inadvertently shooting in the wrong direction. Hopefully a weapon like this doesn't fall into the wrong hands...

I'd buy one that shot nerf darts instead...

iPad iCarbon Review

Rosa send me a very nice collection of samples of the iPad iCarbon skins and iPhone iCarbon skins for review, testing and most importantly...GIVEAWAY!

After receiving red, black, and white iCarbons late last week for the iPad and iPhone I was excited to try one out. Being a Nebraska boy, I figured I'd go for the Husker red on my new iPad. These skins installed very easily with a little heat from a blowdryer to shrink fit the corners. My skin has been installed for nearly a week now and doesn't show any signs of wear and tear yet, and is also fully functional with my iPad SmartCover as well. Although the orange smartcover doesn't go well with it...
Check out this video the iCarbons put together to show you how to install the carbonfiber skin on your iPad. Jump to the 2 minute mark for information on getting the corners to adhere.

Head over to iCarbons and check out different carbon fiber skins available for your iPhone, iPad and MacBook. The iPad skins run $29.95 and the iPhone skins run $24.95.

If you'd like a chance to get yours for FREE, be sure to follow us at @iPadJailbroken and @iCarbonsdotcom on twitter.

JailbreakCon Venue Preview

Craig Fox uploaded a video yesterday providing a preview of the JailbreakCon venue scheduled for September 29th in San Francisco, California. It appears that the creator of Cydia Jay Freeman is standing at the entrance early in the video in his black "reloading data" t-shirt.

Check out the video below if you want to see what you might be missing this year at the Worldwide Jailbreak Conference (WWJC).

Check out the merchandise available for WWJC and follow @JailbreakCon on twitter for the latest. iPad Jailbreak is proud to be an official sponsor of the WWJC, here at the WWJC details for speakers expected to attend in September. Hope to see you there!

New iPad Now Ships In 5-7 Days

Apple is catching up with demand much more quickly with the new iPad as compared to the iPad 2. After creeping up to a 2 to 3 week shipping delay for the new iPad, it has dropped to just 5-7 days.

After just over a month, the new iPad has managed to impress many Apple fans. With the lack of supply available for the iPad 2, many are surprised how quickly that Apple has managed the demand of the new iPad. Now shipping in 5-7 days:

It is difficult to tell if the demand has dropped off for Apple's latest tablet, or they were more prepared for the March launch of the new iPad. After 3-generations, you would think that Apple would have figured it out by now!

iOS 5.1 Jailbreak Exploits Found

Like many of you, I haven't updated my iPhone 4S or iPad 2 to iOS 5.1 to maintain my untethered jailbreak in iOS 5.0.1 instead. The announcement by @pod2g that an iOS 5.1 jailbreak exploit has been found doesn't mean you should upgrade yet, this can typically take weeks to months to develop this into a public release.

Be sure to remember that just because all the exploits are found doesn’t mean that a jailbreak exists it’s likely months away from first working at all according to @chpwn.

Ultrathin iPad Keyboard Cover

Logitech has released a $99 iPad Cover that is super thin and offers a bluetooth keyboard as well. This keyboard includes a full QWERTY keyboard along with shortcuts for copy, paste, and undo. This keyboard case also boasts a 6 month battery life taking full advantage of the more battery efficient Bluetooth 4.0.

This is definitely worth checking out at Logitech if you still haven't found something to protect your precious new iPad.

New iPad Cellular Connection Issues

With my iPad 2, I can flawlessly switch back and forth from my home/work WiFi connection and 3G cellular data connectivity. The only issues I've had with the iPad 2 is when my broadband dies out, but the WiFi connection is still present and active. I have to toggle off WiFi to utilize the 3G connection when my Roadrunner is on the blink but my router is still staying connected to my iPad 2.

My "New iPad" is 4G LTE and is quite fast, but when I jump onto WiFi and back to cellular data I sometimes have issues where the new iPad "Could not activate cellular data network". My work around for this issues is a reboot of my new iPad which is a royal pain in the butt. The separate LTE toggle on the new 4G iPad seems to be the glitch creating problems where 4G LTE isn't available.

My work location doesn't have 4G LTE, but close to my home I do have access. Is anyone else having trouble with their new iPad connecting to 3G, 4G LTE or WiFi or poor performance?

20% Of American Adults Don't Use Internet

According to a survey report by Pew Internet Project, things haven't progressed as drastically from 2000 to 2012 as many have believed. 1 out of 5 adults interviewed stated that they do not use the internet. Senior citizens and those with less education were the least likely to have internet access. Many don't go online because they think the internet isn't relevant to them.

Those on the internet are doing much more than they did in the past. Gaming, watching video, email, and banking are now being done by many people...Personally, I can imagine doing it any other way! It is becoming more and more common for people to shop on their smartphone, tablet and computer via the internet.

What percentage of your retail shopping is done online?
