16:9 iPad Design

The iPhone 5 changed the aspect ratio for of the iPhone for the first time, with previous pixel ratios being 3:2 (480 by 320 and 960 by 640). Now the Examiner is speculating based on info from a few people close to Apple that the new iPad will also transistion to the widescreen display ratio of 16:9.

The current iPad is not 3:2, but is has a 4:3 ratio to match that of a sheet of paper for the iPad's intended purpose...reading. Letterboxing videos is not a problem for me, and changing the aspect ratio would certainly create a lot of work for developers to adjust their iPad Apps. You know the next iPad versions will come with Lightning, other thoughts?
