Mini iPad Availability

According to CNet, it appears that the 7.85-inch iPad may begin production in August. Following the release of the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Google Nexus 7, both for $199, it appears Apple is ready to offer a cheaper and smaller alternative for the iPad.

Many are expecting that the new Mini iPad will have similar specifications to the currently available iPad 2, with just a 20% reduction in overall size. Pricing and availability are appear to be the two main question remaining for consumers. In my opinion, an iPad Mini starting at $199 could be idea...but may not be a reality.

Apple will certainly stick with a 1024 by 768 for seamless integration with iOS 6 and the existing iPad resolution. A big iPhone announcement is suscpected to be just 6 weeks away, it is certainly possible Apple will annouce the iPad mini as well.
