iOS 6 Support For Original iPad?

This past weekend a Chinese forum leaked links for iOS 6 beta for Apple developers and an interesting claim has risen. According to the posts, it appears the iOS 6 will not be supported on the 27 month old original iPad. Many are expecting Apple to drop support to iOS 6 for the iPhone 3GS released in 2009, but the original iPad seems "more new" by a long shot.

The original iPad includes the A4 processor that was included in the iPhone 4 released in June 2010. The iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S are all being offered brand new by Apple, the original iPad was discontinued in March 2011 when the iPad 2 was made available.

It looks like the rumors are true...

Do you think iOS 6 will be available for the original iPad without a jailbreak?

  1. Yes it makes it dangerous to buy into the Apple system-- too much lock down and control and then they abandon support of something just purchased a bit over a year ago. The Ipads should last at least 5 years with full updates and support. These companies ship our jobs overseas and charge us the same prices as if they were made by Americans with top salaries. People who support Apple should demand long commitments. We have other choices out there. After all Android and IOS are both Java running on top of Linux- Android is totally free and no controls. Freedom sets technology and advancement free. Controlling things is not the way to go-- stabbing customers in the back is even worse. Hopefully Apple will support 6 for the iPad 1. If not people should jump ship and seriously consider not supporting Apple.

iPad, I'm Lovin' IT!
