Verizon Grandfathered Unlimited Data

Verizon has now given us a choice, whether we like it or not for the amount of data our smartphones are allotted each month. There are four different data tiers, but really only 3 for smartphones: $10 for 75MB per month (non-smartphone), $30 for 2GB per month, $50 for 5GB per month, and $80 for 10GB per month. If you are currently in a 4G LTE area, it is possible to use up your monthly data cap in 32 minutes of heavy usage.

Existing customers will be grandfathered in with the $30 unlimited plan which includes future handset upgrades. It has also been confirmed that overage charges would be $10 per GB of data for different monthly data smartphone plans. The penalty isn't too steep unless you (or your 5 year old) is streaming YouTube videos for hours on end. I am a heavy data user and will certainly take full advantage of my unlimited data plan instead of the current Verizon data structure.
