A tethered method to jailbreak iOS 5 was reported by the iPhone Dev Team less than 24 hours after it's release. The method used requires tethering, meaning you need to plug your iPad into a computer after each reboot. Stefan Esser (i0n1c) tweeted yesterday that his exploit was patched in iOS 5, meaning the "untether is dead".
Untethered jailbreaking of iOS 4.3.x was authored by i0n1c, but iOS 5 appears to be compromised. iOS 5 is a big improvement to the current version, do we need to jailbreak for iOS 5 after the extensive improvements to the iOS?
