iPad 2 Causing PlayBook Delays

The highly somewhat anticipated BlackBerry tablet may have been delayed due to touch panel availability. Apple's high demand for iPad 2 touch panels may create difficulty for manufacturers to fill RIM's small order of 7-inch touch panels. DigiTimes rumors around the BlackBerry PlayBook suggest that “due to a delay in software testing as well as shortage of touch panels because Apple already booked up most of the available capacity.”

The BlackBerry tablet has been seemingly delayed multiple times, with many expecting a late 2010 arrival of the PlayBook. It appears that throwing a (good) tablet together isn't quite as easy as many Apple competitors first believed. Even with the 2.4 million iPad 2's that were sold, Apple is unable to keep up with their demand due to touch panel cover supply.
