Last week, Apple quickly released an iOS update to address bugs with iOS 4.3 on the iPad 2. But included in this update was a patch to block a jailbreak exploit which has existed for quite some time.
It is tough for comex to understand why the exploit was available from iOS 4.0.2 through iOS 4.3 (especially after SHAtter was patched in iOS 4.3), but was found to be “magically” patched by Apple in iOS 4.3.1, this occurred only a week or so after the iPad 2 was found to be jailbroken on iOS 4.3. On the bright side, the ‘untether’ exploit uncovered by iPhone security expert/hacker Stefan Esser in iOS 4.3 is also still available in iOS 4.3.1 for an untethered jailbreak.
