New Verizon iPhone 4, Old Antenna Issues

Despite a slightly redesigned antenna, it appears that all iPhone 4's still have "death grip" concerns. iLounge discovered that the CDMA Verizon iPhone 4 suffers from the same antenna smothering issues that exist in the original GSM iPhone 4 releases last summer. It appears the WiFi reception issues occurs when the device is held snugly in landscape mode with 2 hands, a position often used while playing games.

The CDMA iPhone 4 can still lose substantial cellular signal strength when held in the prior “death grip” position, as well as Wi-Fi signal when held in a different position, in each case noticeably slowing or completely stalling the reception of data."

It appeared that Apple even moved the mute button slightly on the Verizon iPhone 4 to improve the antenna. This resulted in the antenna frame gap being moved...
