Mobile OS Race Tightening

The latest Nielsen statistics show that most (80+%) of smart phone operating systems belong to the BIG 3; Google Android, RIM Blackberry, Apple iOS. Apple and their iOS has remained relatively steady while Android has been rapidly adopted for the past 15 months. Everytime that I see someone with a Blackberry...I wonder "why would anyone use one of those".

Overall, it appears that 31% of mobile consumers own a smartphone as of the end of 2010. When accounting for most recent smart phone purchases, Android leads the way at 43% , Apple’s iPhone is at 26%, and RIM BlackBerry at 20%.

Nielsen also separated out the OS data dependent on ethnicity...
