The folks over at Mobclix have calculated the value which exists within app users across different platforms. The study used Apps with 500,000 downloads or 75,000 daily active users and based value on advertising revenue and not original purchase price. An active user was defined as a person which uses the app 3 times per week for more than 5 minutes.
The value of free games is less than half that of a utility app, mainly due to the fact that people play some games for hours per day. Android app value is 25-50% less as compared to iOS Apps, it would be interesting to see another graphic this summer comparing iOS on the iPad and Honeycomb on other tablets.
