Challenger: Motorola Xoom Droid

With all of the Android tablets being announced at CES 2011, it appears that Motorola actually has a good tablet which might beat Apple to its release. According to XoomDroid, the folks at Motorola finally unveiled its iPad competitor, and it is expected to be available in February...likely before the iPad 2 is made available.

  • Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS
  • 10.1 inch
  • 16:9 aspect ratio
  • 1280x800 display
  • Dual-core 1GHz processor
  • Full 1080p HD
  • HDMI-out port
  • 5MP rear camera
  • 2MP front video chatting camera
  • Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity via Verizon
  • 4G LTE compatibility
  • Gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer
  • Bluetooth keyboard and dock accessories available
This is a nice list of hardware availability, if they can bring this tablet in near the $500-$600 range (maybe $200-$300 with a Verizon contract) it could definitely "beat the iPad 2 to the market". Even with this poor economy, people are hungry to start buying these tablets up.
