Liquidmetal has many different uses in different points of the manufacturing process since it has high tensile strength. Liquidmetal is highly resistant to corrosion, doesn’t wear easily, is lightweight, and can be molded like plastic. This new patent isn't for an iPad enclosure or iPhone antenna, as previously thought...Apple's liquidmetal patent appears to be for an internal component of a fuel cell.
Future iDevices could rely on a fuel cell type of energy source instead of a rechargeable battery. This could lead to a monthly refill for your iPhone...and maybe a couple of weeks of fuel for your iPad. Who needs the powermat now or an iPad battery replacement now! :)
