iPad 3G, Easy To Jailbreak

The iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that they have been working on a jailbreak for the iPad .

They have also said that they will be releasing a the jailbreak for the iPad after the 3G version goes on sale today, although they haven’t confirmed an exact timescale for the release.

Post from the iPhone Dev Team Blog...

"At some point after (don’t ask when!) the iPad 3G is actually in customers’ hands, the first “userland” jailbreak since firmware 1.x will be released by @comex. It’s called “Spirit” and was first demonstrated working on an iPad by @MuscleNerd within 24 hours of the iPad’s release."

"The Spirit jailbreak is most useful for newer devices: iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, and the iPads. Unfortunately those devices are the same ones that Apple can prevent you from downgrading unless you’ve got a backup of your personalized SHSH blobs. Unless you’ve backed up your SHSH blobs for vulnerable firmware versions, you’ll lose the ability to use the current Spirit jailbreak if you accidentally upgrade."

"As expected, the iPad 3G is equally vulnerable to @comex’s Spirit JB, as demonstrated below on MuscleNerd’s device soon after it arrived by FedEx on the iPad 3G release day."

Before even running Spirit, however, he made a backup of the blobs for his iPad 3G. Even though he already had blobs for his iPad Wifi, they can’t be used on the iPad 3G (or any other iPad Wifi or other device for that matter). Blobs are unique per-device, per-firmware.

Other things about Spirit that are useful to know:
  • Spirit is an untethered jailbreak.
  • Spirit works on all devices.  (However, the redsn0w and PwnageTool flows will continue to work on those devices they’ve always worked on)
  • Spirit does not include a carrier unlock.  (Please don’t bug @comex about that)
  • Spirit requires your device to be activated or hacktivated
Please make sure you have your SHSH blobs backed up!  While @comex has indicated he’s not going to release the very minute the iPad 3G is out, there’s no telling what Apple might do anyway.

Just a little humor to brighten your iPad 3G Release day...

iPad Spirit Jailbreak

What is Spirit Jailbreak?

The Spirit jailbreak is an iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad jailbreak tool created by comex and chpwn. It will jailbreak 3.1.3 for all devices. Sprit jailbreak is as easy to use as blackra1n, and it will quickly jailbreak your iPhone, or iPod touch, or iPad.

Download Spirit Jailbreak

The Spirit Jailbreak software is not out yet, but will be available here...iPad Jailbreak Download

iPad Spirit Jailbreak Delayed

The creator of Spirit has posted an update, “now” confirming that he is not going to release his jailbreak tool on Friday (tomorrow). He has also deleted his “update” where he said that it was coming this Friday.

The decision was made after he read an year old article which detailed on how Apple patched SMS security hole, originally found in iPhone 3.0 by releasing iPhone 3.0.1 only a day after the exploit was found. For those of you who don’t know, Spirit is an untethered jailbreaking tool for all the iDevices including iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It is a jailbreaking only tool like blackra1n which can jailbreak the stock iPhone 3.1.3, iPad 3.2 on almost all the iDevices – MC/non-MC, new bootrom/old bootrom on iPhone 2G/3G/3GS, iPod touch 1G/2G/3G and iPad/iPad 3G.

It is also important to note here is that “Spirit” is not fake. It has been confirmed as “genuinely working” by iPhone Dev Team, which alongside Geohot is one of the most authentic source of iPhone jailbreaks and unlocks.

After all these release updates and delays, it is hard to pick a specific release date now, but it shouldn’t be too far off. If not this weekend, then maybe next week? well who knows. The waiting game continues...

iPad Jailbreak Download

Well if you've installed blackra1n on your iPhone, which many of you surely have. The iPad jailbreak will be quite similar as Apple hasn't plugged the hole that blackra1n utilized for the latest iPhone jailbreak.

The download and instructions will be available here once they are released...which are now released!

Be sure to back-up your SHSH blobs before installing as this is still in beta and you'll need it as Apple will likely plug this hole with firmware update!

You can download the current version for...

The Gizmodo iPhone Saga

The high drama of Gizmodo and the iPhone prototype it acquired could be heading to the courtroom, as prosecutors try to determine who should face charges. Police raided editor Jason Chen's home last Friday and confiscated his computers and related equipment, but prosecutors haven't pressed charges against anyone involved, and they're still considering whether Chen is protected by journalism shield laws.

In the meantime, there's no shortage of speculation on what will happen to Gizmodo and the person who handed over the prototype iPhone for $5,000, but there have also been a few new details reported since the police raid, some rumored and some on the record as fact. Let's separate fact from speculation:

Here's a breakdown of the story by Fast Company...

AT&T 3G iPad Details

For those of you who have been too caught up watching the tracking data for your new 3G iPad as it inches ever closer to your doorstep, delight in a new bit of additional information, this time from AT&T. On Wednesday, the exclusive 3G networking service provider posted an iPad 3G fact sheet detailing how the service would work.

AT&T is offering simple and straightforward 3G pre-paid data plans for iPad – complete with easy, on-device activation and management. Data plans for iPad include access to more than 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots nationwide at no additional cost. Check out 3G plans for iPad, and some helpful Q&A, below.

Domestic Data Plans for iPad

Recurring monthly charge with no long term contract

• $14.99 per month for 250 MB
• $29.99 per month for unlimited data
• Unlimited access – no added cost – to AT&T’s 20,000+ Wi-Fi Hot Spots

How do I manage my 3G plan for iPad? Can I turn service off or change my plan?
Once you sign up for iPad 3G data service, you can add to or cancel your domestic plan at any time – no penalty. For domestic plans, if you do not cancel, your service will automatically renew every 30 days to provide a more seamless data experience on an ongoing basis. For example, if you activate service on May 9, your service will automatically renew 30 days later with the same plan. If you do make a change, a new 30-day window begins.

What happens if I exceed the amount of data in my selected plan before the end of one month?
With the on-device management system, you can check your data usage in Settings>Cellular Data on your iPad at anytime. Also, for the $14.99 plan, iPad will even let you know when you’re about to reach your 250 MB data limit. You’ll get three alerts — at 20 percent, 10 percent, and zero. With each alert, you can choose to add more data or wait and do it later.

iPad Jailbreak Released, Friday

Remember the Spirit iPad Jailbreak we had mentioned a couple weeks back? Well, as predicted, release of spirit is just around the corner.

Spirit untethered Jailbreak tool is a jailbreaking tool only like blackra1n which can jailbreak the stock iPhone 3.1.3 or iPad 3.2 firmware. It will not unlock any of your iDevice. Hopefully this iPad Jailbreak Download will be available very soon!

iPhone hacker Comex has already published a video of his own spirit userland untethered Jailbreak solution that jailbreaks idevice OTA (over the air) that shows it running on the iPod touch. Have a look!

For those who are interested in jailbreaking their iPad, they should stay away from iTunes 9.1.1 since iTunes can detect & remove it.

iPad Insomnia

If you use your iPad to read a book before bed, you may experience a "bout of insomnia" according to researchers.

The iPad backlit display may be to blame, as other hi-tech readers have a duller reflection, more like a real book, says the UCLA report, and exposure to the bright light of the iPad may make it a little harder to get that shut-eye you're seeking.

Sleep researchers say that exposure to the light may inhibit the release of melatonin, which actually helps the body settle into sleep mode.

The iPad, meanwhile, uses a 262,000-color, liquid crystal display (LCD) that must be back-lit because these liquid crystals do not shine on their own. The fact that the iPad operates in full color and is held closer to the user's face than a television may be causing users to experience sleepless spikes when trying to get some rest.

Other devices, such as Kindle and Nook, more closely replicate the design of a regular book, with an ambient light that does not disturb the brain's chemical balance.

iPad Winner Announcement

Well, no one won the 191 Million Jackpot in the Mega Millions drawing last night...

But with the winning number of 18 last week and the winning number of 6 this week, I'm proud to announce that Erika P. from Albany, NY has won our iPad Jailbreak Giveaway!

Erika has elected to get her iPad will be sent her way tomorrow morning. Enjoy your iPad Erika!

For our next giveaway, I'm planning to try to do the same thing with the MegaBall to ensure that this process is truly random! (Plus it gives people something to root for!) Hopefully I can pick up a 16GB 3G iPad at Best Buy in a couple days to giveaway later in May. Thanks to everyone that entered!

iPad Camera Connection Kit

The iPad Camera Connection Kit is not only a collection of two dock connector dongles designed to help you get photos onto an iPad from nearly any digital camera. It turns out the kit can also help you connect other USB devices to an iPad, making it that much more useful to those looking to go iPad-only for some tasks.

One of the Camera Connection Kit's two dongles has a USB port for connecting almost any digital camera via its USB cable (the other has an SD card slot). Connecting a camera or other device that reports itself as a digital camera, including an iPhone, will allow you to download full-resolution images into the iPad's Photos app.

However, experimentation has reveled that other USB devices will work with an iPad as well. Confirming earlier rumors, TidBITS reported that some USB audio devices, like speakers, headsets, and microphones will also work when attached to the USB dongle. Headsets work especially well with Skype for VoIP calls, according to TidBITS. It's expected, though untested, that USB microphones commonly used for recording podcasts or other audio should also work with audio recording applications.

In addition to USB audio devices, TUAW reported that one user was able to plug in a USB keyboard and type text, just as if a Bluetooth keyboard or an iPad Keyboard Dock were being used. This capability doesn't seem especially useful compared to a portable Bluetooth keyboard, but it's there if you need it.

The compact $29 iPhone Stereo Headset includes a decent mic and earphones. Bluetooth earpieces, headphones, and headsets also work with the iPad. And the built-in mic and speakers on the iPad when used with Skype or other audio chat programs make it into something better than most speakerphones I've used.

Limera1n Jailbreak

There is still a lot of buzz surrounding the potential of a GeoHot jailbreak named limera1n.

George Hotz, also known as GeoHot, claims to have jailbroken the iPad, allowing him to install his own software. He is reported to be working on a successor to his blackra1n tool which will jailbreak both iPhones and iPads and will be called limera1n.

So, will limera1n be the iPad tether jailbreak demonstrated last month which could also serve as an iPhone jailbreak or is this his version of the iPhone 4.0 jailbreak? Either of the two will actually do, but since he already posted about blackra1n on the iPad, we’re now leaning more on the latter. We’ll have more on this as this story continues, hopefully a limera1n iPad jailbreak download.

Facebook Videos On iPad

ReadWriteWeb noticed that Facebook hasn’t actually implemented HTML5, but it’s transcoding the videos to .MP4 thus making them compatible with the iPad:

  • “In our tests this morning, it appears that Facebook isn’t actually using HTML5 to display the videos. Instead, what appears to be going on is that is detecting that you’ve arrived to the website via the Safari web browser on the iPad. When you then attempt to play a video on the iPad, it doesn’t play inline (something that would have been a clear confirmation of an HTML5 implementation). Instead, Facebook is linking out to the actual video, transcoded to MP4, a video format that plays on Apple devices."
  • "RWW confirmed this by uploading a video file to Facebook in WMV format (a non-iPad compatible video format) and then attempting to play it on the iPad. It played as an MP4 file.”

Don't use facebook much anyway...just enough to keep me from getting annoyed!

iPad 3G At Best Buy

Steve Jobs is on the job again, answering customer questions. In this case, confirming that Best Buy outlets will have iPad WiFi + 3G models available on the April 30th release day for them.

Want the iPad 3G on 30th of April for those of you who have already placed an order for the 3G version. A reader today sent an email to Steve Jobs asking about the availability of iPad 3G at Best Buy stores on the launch day. Jobs reply was as usual quick and short: “Yep”.

Full header of the email can also be seen below for authenticity...

Oprah Plugs iPad

Television personality Oprah Winfrey, who in the past boosted sales of the Amazon Kindle by praising it on her program, recently declared herself a fan of Apple's iPad for an audience of millions to see.

Winfrey praised the iPad, which she called "amazing," in a conversation on her show last week with tech analyst Omar Wasow. She highlighted the device's abilities as an e-reader, noting that the its touchscreen allows books to "move," and proclaimed that Apple's new hardware would "change the way kids learn."

Above: Oprah shows off an amazing new e-book, Alice for the iPad... It uses the iPad's accelerometer to update the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland. The pictures spring to life.

The TV host also mentioned the Kindle when talking about the iPad, noting that the Amazon Kindle application allows users to read their books on the iPad. She said that unlike the Kindle, the iPad has a backlit screen, which allows for reading in the dark, sharing photos, and playing games like Scrabble. "Gosh, those Apple folks," she said.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the TV host even referred to her ownership of Amazon's e-reader in the past tense, stating she "had a Kindle." A spokesperson for Winfrey later clarified and said she uses both devices.

Given her huge fanbase, it will be interesting to see how much impact Oprah’s praise will have on iPad’s already strong sales.

iPhone WiFi Sync App Proposed

Sneak preview of my upcoming app for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. For the first time ever, sync your device with iTunes over a wireless network - no USB cable required. Coming soon to the App Store.

Despite the fact that Microsoft's Zune player has offered Wi-Fi syncing since 2007, Apple is either unwilling or unable to bestow it upon iPad, iPod, and iPhone users.

Still, even if Apple does block the app, at least people will know it happened and possibly voice their disappointment, rather than just let it pass unnoticed.

We’ll probably see a WiFi Tether App grace the halls of the jailbreak app stores even if Apple never lets it see the light of day through official channels, proving once again that no matter what improvements Apple makes to its software, there’s still always a reason to go rogue.

Would an Apple Wi-Fi Sync blockade be enough justification for you for you to Jailbreak and go to the Cydia App Store

Thunderst0rm Confirmed As Fake

Looks like it pays to be suspicious sometimes, as the Thunderst0rm jailbreak that claimed to be able to jailbreak the iPhone OS 3.1.3 has turned out to be a fake. The file size is due to a bunch of unnecessary files that are included in the package and the tool only seems to call a simple message box (according to the reverse engineered code by iH8sn0w). As it is, we’ll have to wait a little while longer in order to get real working tools to jailbreak devices on the iPhone 3.1.3 such as blackra1n and PwnageTool which are expected to be released after the iPad 3G arrives later this month.

All this software does is create a batch file that starts up when you start your computer, displays a fake iTunes error message saying: “Your iTunes had crashed. error 7 (ASL.dll)“. If you were affected by turbo2sn0w, you can remove it by going to your Startup folder and removing the iTunes.bat file.

Avoid this software and do not install it! Trusted jailbreak software will always be added in the download section in the iPhone toolbar.

iPad Malware Unleashed

Malware scammers are trying to trick early iPad buyers into installing backdoor software on Windows machines, according to a security firm.

The miscreants are passing emails claiming that the iPad needs an iTunes update for "best performance, newer features and security", to be installed via their PC. Malicious links direct victims to a convincing bogus download page, said AV outfit BitDefender.

Security firm BitDefender has identified a virus targeting early iPad adopters. The threat comes in the form of an email promising “…best performance, newer features and security,” which instructs users to download the latest version of iTunes onto their PC, and perform an update for their tablet device.

“Although the iPad has not yet been officially released for sale in the UK, BitDefender has already identified malware targeting the early adopters,” the company states on its website. The email in question contains a malicious link that takes users to what BitDefender calls “a perfect imitation of the one they would use for legitimate iTunes software downloads.” Once the user follows all the required steps, the process ends with malware being downloaded onto their system.

It is unclear why the company entitled its latest security memo “Warning on Early iPad Virus,” since the malware actually affects Windows-running PCs.

Limera1n iPad Jailbreak, By GeoHot

A few weeks after teasing us with a video showing an untethered jailbreak for all devices, an iPad jailbreak and an iPhone 4.0 jailbreak, GeoHot is now rumored to be releasing a new jailbreak called LimeRa1n in the next few days.

The rumor started when iHackinTosh got tipped about a new website called After checking the whois info, it appears that registrant info for both LimeRa1n and BlackRa1n is in the name and address of GeoHot.

The questions on everybody’s lips is now when will GeoHot release LimeRa1n and what device will it allow to jailbreak? LimeRa1n should be available in the next few days and it should work on all devices, including the iPhone and iPod Touch 3.1.3, as well as the iPad.

A jailbreak for these devices has been around for a while now but they’ve never been released in order to prevent Apple to patch the exploits in a future OS update.

While, LimeRa1n has no set release date, you can still jailbreak you iPhone with BlackRa1n and RedSn0w.

iPad Pinky Thief Caught

Looks like they caught the guy that got his pinky stolen along with his iPad a few days ago...Brandon Darnell Smith

Via DenverPost

An Aurora man who lost a finger when a robber violently yanked a new iPad away from him at a Denver mall this month was grateful police caught the alleged bandit who maimed him.

"Thank God, he's off the street," said Bill Jordan, 59, of the arrest early Saturday morning of Brandon Darnell Smith, 20. "I'm doing as well as I can for a man with nine fingers."

Denver police arrested Smith at 1:14 a.m. during a traffic stop in the 3000 block of North Monaco Street, said spokesman Sonny Jackson.

Smith was being held for investigation of robbery and second-degree assault.

Jordan's left pinky finger was amputated at the first knuckle shortly after the tax-day robbery near the Cherry Creek Shopping Center's parking garage. His story was publicized across Canada and the U.S., and he has received well-wishes and cards from many people in the two countries.

Jordan said Denver Detective Brian Sides worked relentlessly to identify the suspect, including working 26 hours straight before Smith was arrested.

iPad Flash Installation

This is an obvious work around to get flash on the iPad enabled...

One way around that is using a VNC (Virtual Network Computing) app. It lets you show and control one computer from iPad.

With this app, you can use a computer that does support Flash to view the content in a VNC app on the iPad. Desktop Connect is currently available and costs $12 in the iTunes App Store. Though there are cheaper VNC apps, this one works with a lot of platforms and is easy to configure.

If the computer is on the same network, Desktop Connect will find it and connect to it automatically. Otherwise, you'll have to configure it manually.

No More iPad For You

This reminds me of the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld...just don't piss of the guy dishing it out, especially if they are iPads!

A medical student wrote on his blog Protocol Snow, claims to buying the iPads for members of a gaming forum living outside the U.S.

"I was doing this as a favour, unlike hoarders who were unloading iPads on eBay to cash in on the $150+ markup," notes the student. "Instead, my asking prices were very reasonable, just enough to cover all the tax, international express shipping, and PayPal fees with a little left over for unexpected costs."

"When asked to clarify the ban and if it applied to iPads only, his credit card or household, the Apple staff member reportedly told the student: "All I can say is that you have reached your lifetime limit," and "You are not allowed to buy this iPad."

When the student asked about how many iPads purchases would result in an Apple ban, the staff member said: "That information is not available."

Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me...

Just saw the Megaball Number was 18...congrats to those that got it!

Those that entered this contest will be automatically eligible for our next I just need to get my hands on a 3G iPad!

Thunderst0rm iPad Jailbreak

A team called thunderst0rm claim to have a solution to jailbreak and unlock all iPhone, iPod and thankfully....iPad devices running firmware 3.1.3 with the 05.12.01 baseband. This is said to be an untethered iPad jailbreak, the team has just posted the video below...

The team says that everything is going well in beta testing and the program will be released tomorrow. There is some skepticism related to the authenticity of this jailbreak, but if they are going to release it tomorrow, we’ll be able to verify it and hopefully download the iPad Jailbreak pretty soon.

Hacks to jailbreak all devices on iPhone 3.1.3, and iPad on iPhone 3.2, we will have to wait for the tools like greenp0ison, blackra1n for iPad, and Spirit for iPad which are expected to be released once iPad 3G hits the shelves later this month. Expect these mentioned tools to be out by either end of this month, or in the first half of May.

Hopefully the limera1n jailbreak is getting close for GeoHot to release!

She Waited 99 Years For The iPad

A 99-year-old woman from Lake Oswego, Virginia Campbell, has finally bought her first computer... an Apple iPad. "It's changed her life," one of her daughters told

Virginia has been an avid reader most of her life, but she suffers from glaucoma, making reading increasingly difficult. Because of the iPad's ability to adjust the brightness of the page and to increase the font by simply tapping, Virginia has been able to take up her beloved past-time again. Not only is she reading again, she's writing again too. So far she has composed twelve limericks on her iPad, example:

To this technical-ninny it's clear
In my compromised 100th year,
That to read and to write
Are again within sight
Of this Apple iPad pioneer.

Wonder if she wants to tether her iPad or better yet, download an iPad jailbreak!

Hulu Plus For iPad

Hulu, the popular online site for watching television shows, plans to begin testing a subscription service as soon as May 24, according to people with knowledge of the plans.

Under the proposal, Hulu would continue to provide for free the five most recent episodes of shows like Fox's "Glee," "ABC's "Lost" or NBC's "Saturday Night Live." But viewers who want to see additional episodes would pay $9.95 a month to access a more comprehensive selection, called Hulu Plus, these people said.

Hulu, which ranks second only to Google's YouTube in terms of monthly video streams in the U.S., said it turned an operating profit in its two most recent quarters. The 2-year-old service, which is owned by media giants News Corp., NBC Universal and the Walt Disney Co., generated more than $100 million in revenue from advertising.

This clearly paves the way for iPad Hulu. Who wouldn’t pay $10 to toss out their cable/dish subscription to be able to watch any show whenever and wherever they like. Now we just need to get our Hulu pushed from our iPad to the big screen in HD!

iPad X-Ray

In Japan they have to wait until next month for the official international iPad release. For a reason of curiousity, a doctor living in Fukuoka (South Japan) X-rayed one he apparently imported from the US and posting the picture on his blog.

Hitler Responds To The iPad - Before It's Too Late!

The meme takes a now-infamous scene from the movie (the scene in which Hitler reacts to the news that Germany is about to lose the war) and puts satirical subtitles over the action (the movie is in German). Hitler parodies have been made for everything from "Hitler finds out Tony Romo dumped Jessica Simpson," to "Hitler is Fired from Whataburger," to, more recently, "Hitler Responds to the iPad."

Video still works, drop me a comment if it gets removed :(

Why has Constantin Films chosen to suddenly claim copyright on these clips after six years, especially when the clips generate interest from parties who are otherwise unlikely to even look at the film. Certainly plenty of wayward YouTubers and Internet-goers have been driven to discover the source of the clips that provide them with so much entertainment. So, yes, you wonder why Constantin Films is suddenly putting the kibosh on this obvious stream of free publicity.

Even the director of Downfall, Oliver Hirschbiegel, thinks the parodies are funny. He told New York Magazine in January 2010: "Someone sends me the links every time there's a new one. I think I've seen about 145 of them! Of course, I have to put the sound down when I watch. Many times the lines are so funny, I laugh out loud, and I'm laughing about the scene that I staged myself! You couldn't get a better compliment as a director."

Adobe Gives Up With iPad Flash

Adobe will no longer pursue its plans to bring Flash to the iPad.

Adobe on Tuesday evening said it is ceasing investment in a software tool that enables Flash developers to port software into native iPhone and iPad apps, according to Mike Chambers, Adobe’s principal product manager for Flash developer relations.

“The primary goal of Flash has always been to enable cross browser, platform and device development,” Chambers wrote in a blog post. “This is the exact opposite of what Apple wants. They want to tie developers down to their platform, and restrict their options to make it difficult for developers to target other platforms.”

Adobe is reacting to the new rule that was added to the iPhone developer agreement, requiring that iPhone and iPad apps must be coded with approved Apple programming languages. This includes languages such as C++ or Objective C. This rule would ban any apps coded with the Adobe Packager for iPhone, a tool enabling Flash-coded software to be easily converted into native iPhone apps, released last week with Adobe CS5.

Faced with Apple’s new rule, Adobe pulled the plug on Packager for iPhone. That ends, for now, any hope that Flash apps (or apps that incorporate Flash) will ever be able to run on the iPad or iPhone.

Apple’s new app policy has created quite a stir. Many say Apple is cornering the market to remove the choice of consumers, because Flash apps that developed for the iPhone will never see the light of day. Supporters of Apple’s decision, including Steve Jobs, say the move was necessary to retain App quality in the App Store and nimbleness of updating the platform.

It appears that the iPad screenshots are correct!

Apple has responded to the move by Adobe in what looks to be a mocking way. Apple spokesperson Trudy Miller said in a statement to CNET:

“Someone has it backwards–it is HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and H.264 (all supported by the iPhone and iPad) that are open and standard, while Adobe’s Flash is closed and proprietary.”

Fortunately for Adobe, they still have Google as a big ally. Just three weeks ago, Google announced that it was partnering with Adobe to natively integrate Flash into both Google Chrome [browser] and Chrome OS [platform].

iPad Pinky Thief Video

More from yesterday's iPad vs Pinky dilemma

A thief's thirst for a brand new iPad cost a Colorado man not only a much-coveted device but also two-thirds of a pinky finger. Doctors had to amputate part of his left pinky after a man Thursday yanked away a bag containing an iPad.

"Then finally he gave it one big jerk, and that's when he stripped the skin off my pinky," he said.

Steve Jobs: “Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone”

The Android-is-porn notion came up again this week, when Jobs reportedly answered a user’s e-mail about Apple’s ongoing censorship of not-even-remotely-X-rated applications. His response:

“We do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy [an] Android phone.”

Below are some badges and gear from eSarcasm, great blog post by the way! :)

Thanks, Steve, for helping to clarify our dirty, dirty desires for free speech. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to go look at some porn. For real, this time.
