According to Business Week, The latest iPad-competitor, the PlayBook by BlackBerry, is being priced very aggressively against the iPad at less than $500. The Playbook features a 1 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM and has dual camera on the front and back.
RIM’s CEO said:
“The product will be very competitively priced,” and when asked whether it will be about $500, Balsillie said “no, it will be under that.”
The PlayBook has a 7-inch screen, much smaller than the iPad’s 9.7-inch display. The PlayBook weighs just 14 ounces and can mimic the BlackBerry phone, giving users a bigger screen to view media and edit documents. BlackBerry PlayBook is 0.4 inches (9.7 mm) thick, making it thinner than the iPad’s 0.5 inches.
Still haven't heard an availablity date for the Blackberry PlayBook. The iPad 2 will likely already be announced by the time it is available.
