Ping on iPad

Quietly, Apple has updated iTunes for the iPad and now has included Ping, their new social network. Nothing is needed to download to start using Ping, new features will automatically appear when you launch the latest iTunes app on your iPad.

After launching iTunes on your iPad, tap on the Ping icon on the bottom of the screen. All of your favorite artists will latest information available. You can also edit the list of artists you’re following or check to see who is following you. Users can use their iPad to check their Ping profile and check concert dates for favorite artists, all with a few simple taps of their fingers.

Ping is Apple’s new social network for music allowing users to follow their favorite artists, see the artist’s favorite music, get up-to-date artist photos, news, and status updates. Ping members can create a profile page and then can share their music tastes with friends. Ping is also integrated into iTunes on the Mac / PC, iPhone and iPod.

Ping for the iPad was originally supposed to be released with iOS 4.2. Recent iOS 4.2 delays didn't stop Apple with the new feature back and decided to roll it out to iPad users before iOS 4.2 becomes available later this month. (Hopefully...)
