The low price leader, Acer has jumped into the tablet category. Yesterday they introduced a 7 and 10-inch tablet which will both run the Android OS...to be available in April!
Both models have the slim body and long widescreen display similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
The 10" model has a capacitive multi-touch 1080p screen, WiFi and 3G, HDMI out, a 5MP rear camera and a front side webcam. This tablet runs on a dual-core 1GHz processor, and is tucked inside a thin, 13.3mm shell.
The 7" model is pretty much the same except it has a 1280×800 screen, and is only capable of 720p
Acer remained silent as to whether these new tablets will run 2.2 Froyo or the tablet-designed Android OS. Acer’s senior vice president Jim Wong said that the tablets will be between $300 and $700. That is a wide price range, and I'd expect the price to be closer to the low side if Apple can get version 2 of the iPad out before these new Acer models in April.
