Microsoft's Apple Store

Microsoft plans to open a new retail store in early November in Minnesota’s Mall of America directly across from the Apple Store. Microsoft must have decided that since Apple has passed Microsoft, they better try to copy them! Dell tried retail locations a few years ago, Gateway tried it, too. with more than 260 Gateway Country stores..

Microsoft's store will copy the Apple Store's shiny modern wood, metal and glass architectural style. Employees will give customers a HIGH 5 as they enter on opening day.

Tech giants open retail stores:
  • Increase sales
  • Increase branding awareness and affinity
  • Improve public familiarity with products
  • Provide tech support location
Microsoft didn't open this store with the expectation of it being profitable, but it appears to be more of a PR move.
