New iPad Models, OLED?

According to Digitimes, the new generation of iPads will feature 2 additional models, a 5.6-inch display version, and a 7-inch version, both using OLED screens instead of the LED display currently featured in the 9.7-inch iPad.

Digitimes stressed that their sources ”noted that Apple has recently placed new iPad orders to Taiwan-based component makers for the fourth quarter of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011 with 9.7-inch, 5.6-inch and 7-inch models all included”. Apparently, the new models will be mainly targeted at the e-readers market, and their price points will be lower than the current model.

It is somewhat hard to believe that Apple will launch 2 new models with such similar screen sizes...maybe we'll get a 16:9 or something more pocket friendly!

  1. ok,
this is interesting but I want a model with camera front and back and phone(no not to hold up to your head) but mainly for transmitting data 3g/wifi (maybe some day we will get wimax).
