Apple Flash Alternative Demonstration

Apple has upped the game in its fight against Flash, replacing words with their demonstration. A new page on Apple.com showcases HTML5 along with its similar Flash capabilities, demonstrating the combined power of plain markup combined with CSS3 and JavaScript running.

I fired it up on my iPad and saw 2D and 3D photo galleries, an amazing typography demo and a trailer for the new Tron movie that can be scaled and skewed in real time. Apple is really proud of this and is taking a chance to really show off HTML5! It’s pretty sweet, and at no point will you see that the message is Loading or hear your fans kick on to keep your lap/laptop cool!

Although Flash isn’t called out, but it is clear that this is a ploy against the Adobe plugin. There is a link at the bottom of every page to Steve Jobs’ “Thoughts on Flash” essay.
